Low-cost Icelandic based airline WOW will begin flights from Logan International Airport in Boston on March 2015. The airline, will offer introductory flights to Iceland and Europe at an AMAZING $99 (plus taxes), one way.
Boston will be the first city to offer flights & will connect to European cities through Iceland. WOW is already offering flights from the United States to Reykjavik, London, and Copenhagen. Flights between Logan and Reykjavik will operate using Airbus A321 Extended Range aircraft. WOW will commence with flights from Washington/Baltimore area shortly thereafter.
These low-cost flights could become a game changer for European/Icelandic travel; and may start a competitive airfare war which the consumer would benefit from. Of course with such low prices come fees for such things as bag check and advance seating assignments (Small carry-on bags are free). From the video below it looks like they have a sense of humor as well!
Started in 2011 by entrepreneur Skúli Mogensen The airline has grown rapidly since then; with plans on increasing flights throughout Europe.
